This animated gif is a result of an assignment for the Digital Imaging class on the Adobe Education Exchange-Adobe Generation Professional. Basically, I went to the North Carolina Museum of Art just before sunset one day and set up to photograph one of my favorite sculptures "Gyre" by Thomas Sayre. As darkness fell, the sculpture was illuminated from below. After capturing a number of images, I went home and did a little light painting in the living room. Combining a loose circle, a straight bar, and a V shape into a single peace symbol, I created a layer for the peace symbol to superimpose as a smart object. I worked with multiple layers to create the illusion of a peace symbol flying in from the left of the frame behind the sculpture and flying through the work and on out into the night sky. I used this as an example of creating animation using layers in Photoshop for my classes of High School Digital Photography students.
